“Accidental Etudes”

Music Reality Show - Just hum and I will play

7:00pm on Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at Toronto Centre For The Arts, 5040 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario

“While some composers may spend great amounts of time and effort carefully writing each note and chord-change of their music with pencil on notation paper, others choose to create spontaneously according to their inspiration in the moment. Pianist Milana is one of the latter, who, as poet William Blake described: “Kisses the joy as it flies.”
(Michael Diamond)

Unique pianist and composer, Milana Zilnik, invites you to attend her April concert. She’d love to share her inspirational energy with you and show how she creates musical pictures right before your eyes.

If you enjoy the music of Chick Corea, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Michael Nyman, and Keith Jarret, then we know you’ll love Milana’s music style. Her adoring fans are enthralled by her talent and her incredible ability to play by ear. This exceptional and uniquely talented pianist improvises and uses whatever inspires her to create her own music. She’s an extremely skilled improviser, catching melodies on the fly and turning them into her own creations.

The first thing you’ll experience during the concert is Milana’s unusual talent in turning infamous motifs into something completely new and different. Always communicating with her audience, Milana will ask for cues. The concert then moves on to her original songs, born from these motives; continuing on to the second session of instant composition.

The favourite part of Milana’s concert for most audience members will be the instant compositions based on audience input. Simply sing or whistle any tune and a new composition will be performed right away. Participants love the experience of becoming ‘co-authors’ of beautiful music, and experience a type of euphoria in creating wonderful melodies together. Audience participation is well-appreciated, leading to wonderful moments of togetherness in the magical world of synergy and inspiration.

What makes Milana’s concerts so unusual is the diversity of musical tastes. It’s completely unpredictable what genre of music will be enjoyed on stage, because it’s entirely up to the audience. It could well be jazz, classical, rock, cinematic, or any music style you can think of.

The concert will take place at 7:00pm on Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at Toronto Centre For The Arts, 5040 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario.

Tickets can be purchased on TicketMaster.

Feel free to join and share the event on Facebook.
